ಲಿಂಗಾಷ್ಟಕಂ
liṅgāṣṭakam
Liṅgāṣṭakam — eight verses in adoration of the Liṅga of Śiva.

Verse 2 — ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಮುರಾರೀ ಸುರಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಮುರಾರೀ ಸುರಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
brahmamurārī surārcita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga worshipped by Brahmā, Murāri (Viṣṇu) and the gods,

Verse 3 — ನಿರ್ಮಲ ಭಾಸಿತ ಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ನಿರ್ಮಲ ಭಾಸಿತ ಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
nirmala bhāsita śobhita liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga shining resplendent, pure and radiant,

Verse 4 — ಜನ್ಮಜ ದುಃಖ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಜನ್ಮಜ ದುಃಖ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ
janmaja duḥkha vināśaka liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that destroys the sorrows born of birth —

Verse 5 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 6 — ದೇವಮುನಿ ಪ್ರವಾರಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ದೇವಮುನಿ ಪ್ರವಾರಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
devamuni pravārārcita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga worshipped by the gods and the foremost sages,

Verse 7 — ಕಾಮದಹನ ಕರುಣಾಕರ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಕಾಮದಹನ ಕರುಣಾಕರ ಲಿಂಗಂ
kāmadahana karuṇākara liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that burnt Kāma to ashes, the very source of compassion,

Verse 8 — ರಾವಣ ದರ್ಪ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ರಾವಣ ದರ್ಪ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ
rāvaṇa darpa vināśaka liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that shattered Rāvaṇa's pride —

Verse 9 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 10 — ಸರ್ವ ಸುಗಂಧ ಸುಲೇಪಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸರ್ವ ಸುಗಂಧ ಸುಲೇಪಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
sarva sugandha sulepita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga anointed with every fragrant unguent,

Verse 11 — ಬುದ್ಧೀ ವಿವರ್ಧನ ಕಾರಣ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಬುದ್ಧೀ ವಿವರ್ಧನ ಕಾರಣ ಲಿಂಗಂ
buddhī vivardhana kāraṇa liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that is the cause of the growth of wisdom,

Verse 12 — ಸಿದ್ಧ ಸುರಾಸುರ ವಂದಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸಿದ್ಧ ಸುರಾಸುರ ವಂದಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
siddha surāsura vaṃdita liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga adored by siddhas, gods and asuras —

Verse 13 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 14 — ಕನಕ ಮಹಾಮಣಿ ಭೂಷಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಕನಕ ಮಹಾಮಣಿ ಭೂಷಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
kanaka mahāmaṇi bhūṣita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga adorned with gold and great gems,

Verse 15 — ಫಣಿಪತಿ ವೇಷ್ಟಿತ ಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಫಣಿಪತಿ ವೇಷ್ಟಿತ ಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
phaṇipati veṣṭita śobhita liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga gracefully entwined by the lord of serpents,

Verse 16 — ದಕ್ಷ ಸುಯಜ್ಞ ವಿನಾಶನ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ದಕ್ಷ ಸುಯಜ್ಞ ವಿನಾಶನ ಲಿಂಗಂ
dakṣa suyajña vināśana liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that destroyed Dakṣa's sacrifice —

Verse 17 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 18 — ಕುಮಕುಮ ಚಂದನ ಲೇಪಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಕುಮಕುಮ ಚಂದನ ಲೇಪಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
kumakuma caṃdana lepita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga anointed with kumkuma and sandal paste,

Verse 19 — ಪಂಕಜ ಹಾರ ಸುಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಪಂಕಜ ಹಾರ ಸುಶೋಭಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
paṃkaja hāra suśobhita liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga beautified with garlands of lotuses,

Verse 20 — ಸಂಚಿತ ಪಾಪ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸಂಚಿತ ಪಾಪ ವಿನಾಶಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ
saṃcita pāpa vināśaka liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that destroys accumulated sins —

Verse 21 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 22 — ದೇವಾಗಣಾರ್ಚಿತ ಸೇವಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ದೇವಾಗಣಾರ್ಚಿತ ಸೇವಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
devāgaṇārcita sevita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga served and worshipped by the hosts of gods,

Verse 23 — ಭಾವೈ-ರ್ಭಕ್ತಿಭಿರೇವ ಚ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಭಾವೈ-ರ್ಭಕ್ತಿಭಿರೇವ ಚ ಲಿಂಗಂ
bhāvai-rbhaktibhireva ca liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga worshipped with true and heartfelt devotion,

Verse 24 — ದಿನಕರ ಕೋಟೀ ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ದಿನಕರ ಕೋಟೀ ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಲಿಂಗಂ
dinakara koṭī prabhākara liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga radiant as ten million suns —

Verse 25 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 26 — ಅಷ್ಟೋದಲೋಪರೀವೇಷ್ಟಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಅಷ್ಟೋದಲೋಪರೀವೇಷ್ಟಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
aṣṭodaloparīveṣṭita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga encircled by an eight-petalled lotus,

Verse 27 — ಸರ್ವಸಮುದ್ಭವ ಕಾರಣ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸರ್ವಸಮುದ್ಭವ ಕಾರಣ ಲಿಂಗಂ
sarvasamudbhava kāraṇa liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that is the cause of all that arises,

Verse 28 — ಅಷ್ಟದರಿದ್ರ ವಿನಾಶನ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಅಷ್ಟದರಿದ್ರ ವಿನಾಶನ ಲಿಂಗಂ
aṣṭadaridra vināśana liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that destroys the eight kinds of poverty —

Verse 29 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ
To that Sadāśiva Liṅga I bow.

Verse 30 — ಸುರಗುರು ಸುರವರ ಪೂಜಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸುರಗುರು ಸುರವರ ಪೂಜಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
suraguru suravara pūjita liṅgaṃ
The Liṅga worshipped by the guru of the gods and the foremost devas,

Verse 31 — ಸುರವನ ಪುಷ್ಪ ಸದಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಸುರವನ ಪುಷ್ಪ ಸದಾರ್ಚಿತ ಲಿಂಗಂ
suravana puṣpa sadārcita liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga ever worshipped with flowers of the celestial groves,

Verse 32 — ಪರಾತ್ಪರ ಪರಾಮಾತ್ಮಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ಪರಾತ್ಪರ ಪರಾಮಾತ್ಮಕ ಲಿಂಗಂ
parātpara parāmātmaka liṅgaṃ
the Liṅga that is the Supreme Self, higher than the highest —

Verse 33 — ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ

ತತ್ ಪ್ರಣಮಾಮಿ ಸದಾಶಿವ ಲಿಂಗಂ
tat praṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgaṃ

ಲಿಂಗಾಷ್ಟಕಮಿದಂ ಪುಣ್ಯಂ ಯಃ ಪಠೇಶ್ಶಿವ ಸಂನಿಧೌ
liṅgāṣṭakamidaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭheśśiva saṃnidhau
Whoever recites this holy Liṅgāṣṭakam in the presence of Śiva

Verse 35 — ಶಿವಲೋಕಮವಾಪ್ನೋತೀ ಶಿವೇನ ಸಹ ಮೋದಿತೇ

ಶಿವಲೋಕಮವಾಪ್ನೋತೀ ಶಿವೇನ ಸಹ ಮೋದಿತೇ
śivalokamavāpnotī śivena saha modite
attains the abode of Śiva and rejoices in his company.
