Śrī Kṛṣṇāṣṭakam of the Silver Pedestal — eight ornate verses by Vādirāja Tīrtha in praise of Kṛṣṇa enshrined on the silver pedestal at Udupi, each closing with a salute to 'Hari who has made the silver pedestal His abode.'

पालयाच्युत पालयाजित पालय कमलालय ।
लीलया धृतभूधराम्बुरुहोदर स्वजनोदर ॥
pālayācyuta pālayājita pālaya kamalālaya |
līlayā dhṛtabhūdharāmburuhodara svajanodara ||
Protect me, O Acyuta! Protect me, O unconquered One! Protect me, O abode of Lakṣmī, who in play upheld the mountain, O lotus-navelled cherisher of Your own people!

Verse 3 — मध्वमानसपद्मभानुसमं स्मरप्रतिमं स्मर…

मध्वमानसपद्मभानुसमं स्मरप्रतिमं स्मर स्निग्धनिर्मलशीतकान्तिलसन्मुखं करुणोन्मुखम् ।
हृद्यकम्बुसमानकन्धरमक्षयं दुरितक्षयं चित्त संस्तुतरौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
madhvamānasapadmabhānusamaṃ smarapratimaṃ smara snigdhanirmalaśītakāntilasanmukhaṃ karuṇonmukham |
hṛdyakambusamānakandharamakṣayaṃ duritakṣayaṃ citta saṃstutaraupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Like a sun to the lotus of Madhva's mind, matchless as the God of love — remember Him, O mind: His face tender, spotless, cool and radiant as the moon, ever bent in compassion, His neck lovely as a conch, the imperishable dispeller of sin — Hari who has made the silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

अङ्गदादिसुशोभिपाणियुगेन संक्षुभितैनसं तुङ्गमाल्यमणीन्द्रहारसरोरसं खलनीरसम् ।
मङ्गलप्रदमन्थदामविराजितं भजताजितं तं गृणे वररौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
aṅgadādisuśobhipāṇiyugena saṃkṣubhitainasaṃ tuṅgamālyamaṇīndrahārasarorasaṃ khalanīrasam |
maṅgalapradamanthadāmavirājitaṃ bhajatājitaṃ taṃ gṛṇe vararaupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
With arm-bands and lovely hands that shake away (devotees') sins, wearing a tall garland strung with the king of gems, moist with grace yet unmoved by the wicked, radiant with the auspicious churning-cord — extol Him, the unconquered! Him I sing: Hari who has made the blessed silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

Verse 5 — पीनरम्यतनूदरं भज हे मनः शुभहेम नः…

पीनरम्यतनूदरं भज हे मनः शुभहेम नः स्वानुभावनिदर्शनाय दिशन्तमर्थिसुशन्तमम् ।
आनतोऽस्मि निजार्जुनप्रियसाधकं खलबाधकं हीनतोज्झितरौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
pīnaramyatanūdaraṃ bhaja he manaḥ śubhahema naḥ svānubhāvanidarśanāya diśantamarthisuśantamam |
ānato'smi nijārjunapriyasādhakaṃ khalabādhakaṃ hīnatojjhitaraupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Adore His full and lovely form, O mind — our very gold! — who grants the vision of Self-knowledge to those who long for it, the most serene; I bow to Him, fulfiller of His dear Arjuna's aims, thwarter of the wicked — Hari who has made the humble-uplifting silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

हैमकिङ्किणिमालिकारशनाञ्चितं तमवञ्चितं रत्नकाञ्चनवस्त्रचित्रकटिं घनप्रभया घनम् ।
कम्रनागकरोपमूरुमनामयं शुभधीमयं नौम्यहं वररौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
haimakiṅkiṇimālikāraśanāñcitaṃ tamavañcitaṃ ratnakāñcanavastracitrakaṭiṃ ghanaprabhayā ghanam |
kamranāgakaropamūrumanāmayaṃ śubhadhīmayaṃ naumyahaṃ vararaupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Girt with a golden girdle of tinkling bells, ever true, His waist bright with gem-and-gold brocade, thick with splendour, His graceful thighs lovely as the elephant's trunk, free of every flaw, all-auspicious of heart — Him I praise: Hari who has made the noble silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

Verse 7 — वृत्तजानुमनोज्ञजङ्घममोहदं परमोहदं…

वृत्तजानुमनोज्ञजङ्घममोहदं परमोहदं रत्नकल्पनखत्विषा हृतहृत्तमःस्ततिमुत्तमम् ।
प्रत्यहं रचितार्चनं रमया स्वयागतया स्वयं चित्त चिन्तय रौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
vṛttajānumanojñajaṅghamamohadaṃ paramohadaṃ ratnakalpanakhatviṣā hṛtahṛttamaḥstatimuttamam |
pratyahaṃ racitārcanaṃ ramayā svayāgatayā svayaṃ citta cintaya raupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
His rounded knees and shapely calves enchant and destroy delusion; by the lustre of His jewel-like nails He steals away the darkness of the heart — the highest One, worshipped each day by Lakṣmī who comes to Him of her own accord. O mind, contemplate Hari who has made the silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

चारुपादसरोजयुग्मरुचामरोच्चयचामरोदारमूर्धजभारमण्डलरञ्जकं कलिभञ्जकम् ।
वीरतोचितभूषणं वरनूपुरं स्वतनूपुरं धारयात्मनि रौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
cārupādasarojayugmarucāmaroccayacāmarodāramūrdhajabhāramaṇḍalarañjakaṃ kalibhañjakam |
vīratocitabhūṣaṇaṃ varanūpuraṃ svatanūpuraṃ dhārayātmani raupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Radiant with the beauty of His two lotus-feet, His flowing locks delighting all, the breaker of the Kali age; adorned with ornaments befitting a hero, His own anklets ringing — hold Him within yourself: Hari who has made the silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

शुष्कवादिमनोतिदूरतरागमोत्सवदागमं सत्कवीन्द्रवचोविलासमहोदयं महितोदयम् ।
लक्षयामि यतीश्वरैः कृतपूजनं गुणभाजनं धिक्कृतोपमरौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
śuṣkavādimanotidūratarāgamotsavadāgamaṃ satkavīndravacovilāsamahodayaṃ mahitodayam |
lakṣayāmi yatīśvaraiḥ kṛtapūjanaṃ guṇabhājanaṃ dhikkṛtopamaraupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Far beyond the reach of dry disputants, a festival of blissful revelation, the great dawn of the play of noble poets' speech, of exalted majesty — Him I behold, worshipped by the lords of ascetics, the vessel of all virtues, beyond all comparison — Hari who has made the silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

Verse 10 — नारदप्रियमाविशाम्बुरुहेक्षणं निजरक्षणं…

नारदप्रियमाविशाम्बुरुहेक्षणं निजरक्षणं तारकोपमचारुदीपचयान्तरे गतचिन्त रे ।
धीर मानस पूर्णचन्द्रसमानमच्युतमानम द्वारकोपमरौप्यपीठकृतालयं हरिमालयम् ॥
nāradapriyamāviśāmburuhekṣaṇaṃ nijarakṣaṇaṃ tārakopamacārudīpacayāntare gatacinta re |
dhīra mānasa pūrṇacandrasamānamacyutamānama dvārakopamaraupyapīṭhakṛtālayaṃ harimālayam ||
Dear to Nārada, lotus-eyed, protector of His own, seated amid a cluster of lamps lovely as stars — O restless one, be still! O steadfast mind, worship Him, serene as the full moon, the unfallen, worthy of all honour — Hari of Dvārakā-like glory who has made the silver pedestal His abode, the refuge of all.

Verse 11 — रौप्यपीठकृतालयस्य हरेः प्रियं दुरिताप्रियं…

रौप्यपीठकृतालयस्य हरेः प्रियं दुरिताप्रियं तत्पदार्चकवादिराजयतीरितं गुणपूरितम् ।
गोप्यमष्टकमेतदुच्चमुदे ममास्त्विह निर्मम प्राप्यशुद्धफलाय तत्र सुकोमलं हतधीमलम् ॥
raupyapīṭhakṛtālayasya hareḥ priyaṃ duritāpriyaṃ tatpadārcakavādirājayatīritaṃ guṇapūritam |
gopyamaṣṭakametaduccamude mamāstviha nirmama prāpyaśuddhaphalāya tatra sukomalaṃ hatadhīmalam ||
