आव जन्मद पुण्य फलिसितॆनगॆ
āva janmada puṇya phalisitènagè
What merit from what past birth has now ripened for me,

Verse 2 — ई उडुपि कृष्णन प्रसाद भुंजिसिदॆ

ई उडुपि कृष्णन प्रसाद भुंजिसिदॆ
ī uḍupi kṛṣṇana prasāda bhuṃjisidè
that I have eaten the prasada of Udupi Krishna!

Verse 3 — लवणवनु सविदुणलु

लवणवनु सविदुणलु
lavaṇavanu saviduṇalu
Having tasted even a grain of salt (of His prasada),

Verse 4 — बलु जन्मदलि इद्द भवरासिगळु हारि बयलादवु

बलु जन्मदलि इद्द भवरासिगळु हारि बयलादवु
balu janmadali idda bhavarāsigal̤u hāri bayalādavu
the heaps of worldly sins gathered over many births flew away and vanished;

Verse 5 — नवविध भकुतिया मार्गवनॆ तिळिदु

नवविध भकुतिया मार्गवनॆ तिळिदु
navavidha bhakutiyā mārgavanè til̤idu
knowing the ninefold path of devotion,

Verse 6 — मानवरॊळगॆ परि शुद्धनादॆ गुरु करुणदलि

मानवरॊळगॆ परि शुद्धनादॆ गुरु करुणदलि
mānavaròl̤agè pari śuddhanādè guru karuṇadali
I became wholly pure among mortals, by the guru’s grace.

śākhaphala kaikòl̤alu ariṣaḍvargagal̤iṃda
To take the fruit of a branch, from the six inner foes —

śokavanè baṃdiralu bènnu baṭṭu
when sorrow came pursuing at my back,

kākèṭṭu poguvavu enèṃbè sojigavu
they fled and took to the hills — what a wonder this is!

lokadòl̤agè namma kulagotrajarè dhanya
In this world, blessed are our clan and lineage!

Verse 11 — सूपवनु उंडरॆ मुंदट्टि बरुत्तिप्प

सूपवनु उंडरॆ मुंदट्टि बरुत्तिप्प
sūpavanu uṃḍarè muṃdaṭṭi baruttippa
When one eats the vegetable curry, it comes gushing out behind —

Verse 12 — आपत्तु कळवळिसि हिंदादवु

āpattu kal̤aval̤isi hiṃdādavu
calamity, disturbed, fell back;

bhāpurè mokṣamārgakkè sopāna dòrakidavu enèṃbè sojigavu balu tīvradali
lo, a ladder to the path of liberation has been gained — what a wonder, so swiftly!

Verse 14 — भक्ष्यगळु मॆललागि भक्ति पुट्टुवदय्या

भक्ष्यगळु मॆललागि भक्ति पुट्टुवदय्या
bhakṣyagal̤u mèlalāgi bhakti puṭṭuvadayyā
As one savors the delicacies, devotion springs up,

akṣayavāguvadu idda puṇya
and one’s stored merit becomes inexhaustible;

akṣara vaṃcanāgi sarvadā mokṣasādhana māl̤pa manasu puṭṭitu noḍā
without a syllable’s slip, the resolve to attain liberation has arisen — see!

odanavu udaradali tuṃbalākṣaṇadalli
The instant the meal fills the stomach,

sādhugal̤a saṃgati ghaṭisuvadu
the company of the virtuous comes to pass;

bodharā matadalli lolāḍuvānaṃdā
one sports in bliss in the doctrine of the wise.

ghṛta dadhi takra mòdalāda vyaṃjana uṇalu
Eating dishes of ghee, curd, buttermilk and the like,

hitavāgi sakala iṃdriyaṃgal̤u
all the senses become healthy and well-disposed;

never then straying to evil objects of sense,
