śrīnivāsa nīnè pālisò śṛtajanapāla

Srinivasa, protector of those who seek refuge,

Verse 2 — ಗಾನಲೋಲ ಶ್ರೀ ಮುಕುಂದನೆ

ಗಾನಲೋಲ ಶ್ರೀ ಮುಕುಂದನೆ

gānalola śrī mukuṃdanè

O Mukunda, lover of music.

Verse 3 — ಧ್ಯಾನಮಾಳ್ಪ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಮಾನದಿಂ ಪರಿಪಾಲಿಸುವ

ಧ್ಯಾನಮಾಳ್ಪ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಮಾನದಿಂ ಪರಿಪಾಲಿಸುವ

dhyānamāl̤pa sajjanara mānadiṃ paripālisuva

Meditated upon by the virtuous, honoured by their reverence,

Verse 4 — ವೇಣುಗೋಪಾಲ ಗೋವಿಂದ ವೇದವೇದ್ಯ ನಿತ್ಯಾನಂದ

ವೇಣುಗೋಪಾಲ ಗೋವಿಂದ ವೇದವೇದ್ಯ ನಿತ್ಯಾನಂದ

veṇugopāla goviṃda vedavedya nityānaṃda

You are Veṇugopāla, Govinda, known to the Vedas, the eternal bliss.

Verse 5 — ಎಂದಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಾಬ್ಜವ ಪೊಂದುವ ಸುಖ

èṃdigè ninna pādābjava pòṃduva sukha

When will I attain the joy of your lotus feet?

Verse 6 — ಎಂದಿಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವೊ ಮಾಧವ

èṃdigè labhyavò mādhava

When, O Mādhava, will that be?

Verse 7 — ಅಂಧಕಾರಣ್ಯದಲಿ ನಿಂದು ತತ್ತರಿಸುತಿಹೆನೊ

ಅಂಧಕಾರಣ್ಯದಲಿ ನಿಂದು ತತ್ತರಿಸುತಿಹೆನೊ

aṃdhakāraṇyadali niṃdu tattarisutihènò

Wandering lost in the dark forest of ignorance,

Verse 8 — ಅಂದದಿಂ ಭವಾಬ್ದಿಯೊಳು ನಿಂದು ನೊಂದೆನೊ ಮುಕುಂದ

aṃdadiṃ bhavābdiyòl̤u niṃdu nòṃdènò mukuṃda

I stand helpless, drowning in worldly existence — save me, O Mukunda.

èṣṭu dina kaṣṭapaḍuvudo yaśodè kaṃda

How long, O son of Yaśodā, must I endure this suffering?

Verse 10 — ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಲಾಗದೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಭಜಿಸಲಾರೆ

ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಲಾಗದೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಭಜಿಸಲಾರೆ

dṛṣṭiyiṃda noḍalāgadè muṭṭi ninna bhajisalārè

I cannot even look upon you, much less approach you and receive your grace.

Verse 11 — ಕೆಟ್ಟ ನರಜನ್ಮದವ ದುಷ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ್ಯೂ

ಕೆಟ್ಟ ನರಜನ್ಮದವ ದುಷ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ್ಯೂ

kèṭṭa narajanmadava duṣṭa kārya māḍidāgyū

Even though I have committed sins in this human birth,

Every day I endure countless illnesses,

ghana mahimanè kel̤ayya

O Lord of measureless glory, hear my plea.
