Verse 1 — రాగి తందీరా భిక్షకే̀ రాగి తందీరా

రాగి తందీరా భిక్షకే̀ రాగి తందీరా
rāgi taṃdīrā bhikṣakè rāgi taṃdīrā
Have you brought rāgi (millet) as alms? Bring the rāgi! — a mendicant's playful refrain, punning on rāgi the grain and -āgi, 'becoming.'

Becoming worthy, becoming blessed with plenty, becoming fortunate, all of you —
