bāgilanu tèrèdu sevèyanu kòḍò hariyè
Open the door and let me serve You, O Hari!

Verse 2 — ಕೂಗಿದರು ಧ್ವನಿ ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ ನರಹರಿಯೇ

ಕೂಗಿದರು ಧ್ವನಿ ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ ನರಹರಿಯೇ
kūgidaru dhvani kel̤alillave narahariye
I called out — did You not hear my voice, O Narahari?

ಕರಿರಾಜ ಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಆದಿಮೂಲಾ ಎಂದು
karirāja kaṣṭadalli ādimūlā èṃdu
when the king of elephants, in distress, cried ‘O Primeval Source!’

Verse 6 — ಕರೆಯಲಾಕ್ಷಣ ಬಂದು ಒದಗಿದೆಯೋ ನರಹರಿಯೇ

ಕರೆಯಲಾಕ್ಷಣ ಬಂದು ಒದಗಿದೆಯೋ ನರಹರಿಯೇ
karèyalākṣaṇa baṃdu òdagidèyo narahariye
did You not come at once at his call, O Narahari?

kaḍu kopadiṃ khal̤anu khaḍgavanu hiḍidu
When the wicked one, in fierce anger, seized his sword

and demanded ‘Where is your Lord?’ —

Verse 9 — ದೃಢ ಭಕುತಿಯಲಿ ಶಿಶುವು ಬಿಡದೆ ನಿನ್ನನು ಭಜಿಸೆ

ದೃಢ ಭಕುತಿಯಲಿ ಶಿಶುವು ಬಿಡದೆ ನಿನ್ನನು ಭಜಿಸೆ
dṛḍha bhakutiyali śiśuvu biḍadè ninnanu bhajisè
as the child, in firm devotion, unceasingly worshipped You,

did You not burst forth from the pillar in joy, O Narahari?
