Verse 1 — ವಂದಿಸುವುದಾದಿಯಲಿ ಗಣನಾಥನ

vaṃdisuvudādiyali gaṇanāthana

At the very outset one must offer worship to Gaṇanātha —

Verse 2 — ಸಂದೇಹ ಸಲ್ಲ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರಿಯಾಜ್ಞೆ ಇದಕುಂಟು

ಸಂದೇಹ ಸಲ್ಲ ಶ್ರೀ ಹರಿಯಾಜ್ಞೆ ಇದಕುಂಟು

saṃdeha salla śrī hariyājñè idakuṃṭu

of this there is no doubt, for it is Śrī Hari's own command. || refrain ||

Verse 3 — ಹಿಂದೆ ರಾವಣ ತಾನು ವಂದಿಸದೆ ಗಜಮುಖನ

ಹಿಂದೆ ರಾವಣ ತಾನು ವಂದಿಸದೆ ಗಜಮುಖನ

hiṃdè rāvaṇa tānu vaṃdisadè gajamukhana

In days of old, Rāvaṇa, without worshipping the elephant-faced Gajamukha,

Verse 4 — ನಿಂದು ತಪವನು ಗೈದು ವರ ಪಡೆಯಲು

ನಿಂದು ತಪವನು ಗೈದು ವರ ಪಡೆಯಲು

niṃdu tapavanu gaidu vara paḍèyalu

stood and performed austerity, seeking to win his boons;

Verse 5 — ಒಂದು ನಿಮಿಷದಿ ಬಂದು ವಿಘ್ನವನು ಆಚರಿಸಿ

ಒಂದು ನಿಮಿಷದಿ ಬಂದು ವಿಘ್ನವನು ಆಚರಿಸಿ

òṃdu nimiṣadi baṃdu vighnavanu ācarisi

but Gaṇeśa came in a single moment, set an obstacle across his path,

Verse 6 — ತಂದ ವರಗಳನೆಲ್ಲ ಧರೆಗೆ ಇಳಿಸಿದನು

ತಂದ ವರಗಳನೆಲ್ಲ ಧರೆಗೆ ಇಳಿಸಿದನು

taṃda varagal̤anèlla dharègè il̤isidanu

and dashed every boon he had gained back down to the earth.

Verse 7 — ಅಂದಿನಾ ಬಗೆಯರಿತು ಬಂದು ಹರಿ ಧರ್ಮಜಗೆ

ಅಂದಿನಾ ಬಗೆಯರಿತು ಬಂದು ಹರಿ ಧರ್ಮಜಗೆ

aṃdinā bagèyaritu baṃdu hari dharmajagè

Knowing well how that day had gone, Hari came to Dharmarāja

Verse 8 — ಮುಂದೆ ಗಣಪನ ಪೂಜಿಸೆಂದು ಪೇಳೆ

ಮುಂದೆ ಗಣಪನ ಪೂಜಿಸೆಂದು ಪೇಳೆ

muṃdè gaṇapana pūjisèṃdu pel̤è

and bade him worship Gaṇapati first;

Verse 9 — ಒಂದೇ ಮನದಲಿ ಬಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸಲು ಗಣನಾಥ

ಒಂದೇ ಮನದಲಿ ಬಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸಲು ಗಣನಾಥ

òṃde manadali baṃdu pūjisalu gaṇanātha

and when he worshipped with a single, undivided mind, Gaṇanātha

Verse 10 — ಹೊಂದಿಸಿದ ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನದಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯವನು

ಹೊಂದಿಸಿದ ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನದಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯವನು

hòṃdisida nirvighnadiṃda rājyavanu

conferred on him the kingdom, free of every obstacle.

Verse 11 — ಇಂದು ಜಗವೆಲ್ಲ ಉಮೆನಂದನನ ಪೂಜಿಸಲು

ಇಂದು ಜಗವೆಲ್ಲ ಉಮೆನಂದನನ ಪೂಜಿಸಲು

iṃdu jagavèlla umènaṃdanana pūjisalu

Now all the world worships the son of Umā,

Verse 12 — ಚೆಂದದಿಂದಲಿ ಸಕಲ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಗಳನಿತ್ತು

ಚೆಂದದಿಂದಲಿ ಸಕಲ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಗಳನಿತ್ತು

cèṃdadiṃdali sakala siddhigal̤anittu

and with grace He grants every accomplishment;

Verse 13 — ತಂದೆ ಸಿರಿಪುರಂದರವಿಠಲನ ಸೇವೆಯೊಳು

ತಂದೆ ಸಿರಿಪುರಂದರವಿಠಲನ ಸೇವೆಯೊಳು

taṃdè siripuraṃdaraviṭhalana sevèyòl̤u
