I bow to Vināyaka — who joyfully holds the modaka, ever the granter of liberation, wearing the crescent as a crest-jewel, protector of the sporting worlds; the one leader who has no leader, destroyer of the elephant-demon, who swiftly ends the misfortune of those who bow.
Ever, without pause, I take refuge in the supreme beyond the supreme — terrible to the foes of the devout, radiant as the newly risen sun, praised by gods and immortals, lifter of the sorely afflicted; Lord of gods, of treasures, of elephants, of the hosts, the great Lord.
I salute the shining one — bringer of good to all worlds, who drove off the demon-elephant, of shapely belly, boon-giving, imperishable elephant-face; the wellspring of grace, forbearance, joy, fame and thought, saluted by all who salute.
I worship the ancient elephant-Lord — who wipes away the pain of the destitute, vessel of age-old scripture, elder son of Śiva the foe of the three cities, crusher of the demons' pride; dread even at the world's dissolution, adorned like Arjuna, His temples streaming with rut.
I contemplate ceaselessly that Ekadanta alone — of inconceivable form, without end, the cutter of every obstacle, dwelling unbroken within the hearts of yogins.
