I am but the son of the maidservants in the house of the Lordʼs servants,

Verse 2 — sāsira nāmadòḍèya raṃgayyana manèya

sāsira nāmadòḍèya raṃgayyana manèya

in the house of Rangayya, master of a thousand names.

Verse 3 — śaṃkudāsara manèya maṃkudāsanu nānu

śaṃkudāsara manèya maṃkudāsanu nānu

In the house of the conch-bearing devotees I am a dull servant,

Verse 4 — maṃkudāsanu nānu maral̤udāsa

maṃkudāsanu nānu maral̤udāsa

a dull servant am I, a witless servant.

Verse 5 — saṃkīrtanèya māḍi nènèva bhaktara manèya

In the house of devotees who sing and remember Him,

Verse 6 — biṃkadi bāgila kāyva baḍadāsa nānayya

I am the humble servant who gladly guards the door.

In the house of Kāḷidāsaʼs kin I am a lowly servant,
