About the Sukta form

A sūkta (su- + ukta, literally 'well recited') is a hymn of praise from the Vedas — the Rigveda alone gathers 1,028 of them across its ten mandalas, addressed to deities such as Agni, Indra and Soma. Suktas are among the oldest continuously recited religious texts in the world, preserved by oral tradition with exceptional fidelity for over three millennia.
